Barbour Pantone Jackets

Our weekly “Style Guide” for the latest trends!

Each week we will be styling our THRDS presenter Mr. Jay London in four unique ways, to showcase variations of how a key item of the season can be worn. This feature is our humble way of providing our readers with different style suggestions. We hope to guide and assist you with making good fashion choices, and show how to wear your favourite pieces.

Heritage brand Barbour joined forces with colour guru Pantone to create a vibrant spring/summer 14 collection, entitled ‘Country Colours’, which celebrates the rich shades of the English countryside. The 4 colours for the menswear selection are bright, colourful and workable for any style.

the styles

Sartorial – For our Sartorial gent, we choose the red Pantone Barbour jacket. We thought it was a show-stopper and we know, that it would be perfect for a ‘peacocking’ moment. We’ve placed a Topman suit underneath, to showcase that these jackets can be a great addition in a form of layering, to that of an already stylish composition. The Dr Martens worn with this outfit should not be overlooked, as they are from the new line of refined designs, they feature a unique texture contrast, having cotton underneath leather panels.

Trendy – Before you dismiss it, a little leg never hurt anybody! So we’ve gone with, what we’ve agreed, is the boldest of the colourways for our trendsetters, the lime green Pantone Barbour. This is because we feel if you’re concerned with being on trend, you will always take the outlandish choice. As eyes are automatically drawn to the jacket, we’ve kept the colours understated underneath, with a sky blue shirt from Universal Works, Navy shorts from Elvine, and then a unique Avvik trainer that takes elements of a brogue.

Casual –  To gain a sporty look we’ve gone with the sky blue Pantone Barbour,  placed a Surf Liquor jacket underneath, along with some loose MQT jeans and a pair of Nike trainers.

Hipster – As a heritage brand, Barbour has yet to become a popular name among the street savvy urban fashionistas. However, we feel by selecting the understated navy Pantone barbour, the look can work. In  keeping  it very simple, we’ve added neutral colours,  a grey long tee, and light denim skinny leg jeans from MQT with comfortable camel  Cat Boots.
