Our weekly “Style Guide” for the latest trends!

Each week we will be styling our THRDS presenter Mr. Jay London in four unique ways, to showcase variations of how a key item of the season can be worn. This feature is our humble way of providing our readers with different style suggestions. We hope to guide and assist you with making good fashion choices, and show how to wear your favourite pieces.

Denim is forever revamping itself, however the ripped /shredded look has definitely made a strong transition from the hobo, rough workman appeal, to that of an unexpected key fashion trend for men. Thanks to Kayne West as one of the biggest pioneers of the ripped jeans look, the trend  has since managed to become quite a testament to that effortless style in menswear.

To show you just how versatile they can be, we have used a pair of Levis  Ripped Jeans.

Sartorial –  “Anyone can get dressed up and be glamorous, but it’s how people dress on their off days that are most intriguing.”– Alexander Wang. This is the exact approach we took with styling this look. Yes, our sartorial man, is very dapper and yes, he may frown about ripped jeans, however here, at THRDS  we believe there must be a day or two out of the 365 days a year, where he doesn’t want to be suited and booted! So for that day we have got a British made denim jacket from Cro Jack,  along with one of our own crisp white shirts, however to ensure we  gain a tapered, sleek look we’ve added the beige canvas brogues from Dr Martens.

Trendy – For this look we’ve embodied the “effortless cool” approach using one of  Jay London’s grey cashmere hoodie, adding a lovely waterproof jacket from Elvine,  and a pair of classic white Converse sneakers.

Casual – We kept it completely effortless here. Ripped jeans are the ideal for someone who likes to keep it chilled. We created the look with a comfortable cotton white long sleeve top from Humor adding some comfort and colour with slip on plimsolls from BucketFeet.

Hipster  – A popular look this summer has been influenced by that of the 90’s and the Chris Brown music video Loyal. The look is the one in which  a shirt is worn around your waist as a fashion statement. In the music video we see Chris Brown wearing a checkered, flannel shirt around his waist, and since the video premiered on social media, we’ve seen the look copied by both the sexes. Creating our own twist, we’ve used a long sleeved white top from Known, our flannel is from Quiksilver, and the shoes are (of course!) the all white Palladium Boots.
